Barriers to weight loss- cravings for fat

Of late, people are becoming more and more conscious about their physiques. Many people are switching to a healthy lifestyle in order to avoid diseases and obesity. Some people are going for diets, some are going for extensive gym processes while some are enough daunting to go for risky surgeries. But the question is why do people get fat in the first place? What is the phenomenon that comes at the way of weight loss?

It has been found out that, people generally seem to have an indomitable craving for fatty foods. For example: almost everyone knows how harmful could be those oily and salty fast foods. Still do you ever see the crowd at the Mc. Donald’s ever decreasing? It’s like people have an inert tendency in them, which most of them cannot fight off.

Researchers have spent much effort for figuring the fact out. They have found that, craving for food is as natural a process as sleeping, and like sleeping it’s a cyclical process too. The craving is triggered by certain brain hormones and body chemicals. These hormones and chemicals in combined form initiate a craving sense in our stomach of the nutrient that the body really needs.

For example: in the morning the body has low level of glucose, and the neurochemical NPY combined with the hormone cortisol creates carbohydrate craving in the morning. Similarly another secretion of different neurochemical causes protein craving during lunch.

Now the real devil is the brain chemical called the Galanin. This chemical is secreted with all the hormones said above and it is the one responsible for fat craving. Now what to do? If you eat fat-rich food at this stage, the chemical will call for more. And if you don’t, the chemical will make you feel real bad; your craving will hurt you. So at this point you should have refined fats at moderate amount.

Also there is the fact that, researchers have developed formulas to fight this galanin, but their effectiveness or functions has not been proved dependable yet.
